Signature Food Fest closes with recognition awards

October was truly a month to celebrate food as food lovers indulged in even more sumptuous delights at The Signature Food Fest showcase held on 10 - 11 October 2015 at Oceanus Waterfront Mall, Concourse area. The event marked the start of a 3-week food fest from 10 – 31 October 2015 where participating restaurants, cafes and bistros offered their signature dish to be savored and voted the best in various categories.

KK city is known as a laidback, friendly city and is home to a kaleidoscope of mixed races of Sabah natives, Chinese, Bruneian, Indian, Japanese, Korean and Western folk as well. This cultural mix is the result of our city’s history and community from the time it was known as Jesselton – until it became Kota Kinabalu when Malaysia was formed in 1963.

The judging mechanism is covered in 3 parts by our invited judges, votes by patrons and through social media. We were fortunate to have Datuk Gordon Leong as our Chief Judge and Mr Rory Richardson, the founder of English Tea House, as our second judge. The organizer himself Mr Alfred Allen also participated throughout the food judging process.

Tonight we witness the healthy competition between all the participating restaurants to bring out the best of their culinary expertise. The Signature awards objectively judges every aspect of a restaurant, pointing out both the good and areas that can be improved in a constructive and helpful manner. The judging was done through personally visiting the restaurants to assess them based on set criteria and sampling the signature menus so if a restaurant gets a good value point, you know they deserved it.
