Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (January 18,2013)- A recent blood donation drive was held at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu which took place in Bungor Room from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday,17 January 2013. The event saw 35 employees of the five-star hotel chain get their blood tested for donation. The drive was open to all employees and members of the public

The campaign, jointly organized by Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and the Blood Bank at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, was to overcome the Bank's recurrent, acute shortage in blood supply. at the end of the day, staff from the mobile blood bank collected some 23 pints of blood, mostly "O" type which supplies blood to the 13 hospital in Sabah's west coast.

The Hyatt Regency Kinabalu conducts at least three blood donation drives a year as part of their many corporate social responsibility programmes.

More and more employees are becoming aware of the need for blood donations through the efforts of Hyatt's Corporate Social Responsibility programme called Hyatt Thrive.

Hyatt Thrive aims to enable thriving communities by contributing to the prosperity, health and advancement of the many places in the world that the Hyatt calls home.

Kota Kinabalu:  January 2013 – Vivian Chu, the current Executive Assistant Manager of Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo became the first Sabahan to be selected to participate in Accor Group’s GM Pass Asia Program.


GMPass Asia Program is a 12 months Personal Development Plan aiming to prepare a few selected managers within Asia for a future as General Manager. There will be a list of recommended projects, assignments, on the job experiences and training programs to develop the skills and advancement based on Accor Asia General Manager key competencies.

A native of Kota Kinabalu, Vivian joins Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo in 2009. Prior to her appointment, she was Director of Sales at The Empire Hotel & Country Club Brunei Darussalam and Sales Manager at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai. She also held a position at 1Borneo Management Corporation as Deputy Director Centre Management / Retail Director.
