CHEF GUAN ALL THE WAY FROM GUANGZHOU INTRODUCING LATEST SIGNATURE DISHES AT CITI RESTAURANT, SANDAKAN

Sandakan town is well-known as the seafood heaven in Sabah, famous for its fresh and dried seafood. At present, there are more and more restaurant opening and sprouting like mushrooms, among the famous restaurant in town is Citi Restaurant which established in April 1999.

The concept of the outlet is more towards oriental Chinese Restaurant, air-conditioned and very cozy environment for the diners with perfect place and ample parking space. Citi Restaurant served mostly Cantonese style cuisine and the kitchen headed by Head Chef – Chef Guan originated all the way from Guangzhou province with years of Chinese culinary experiences. His culinary experiences ae mostly while worked in Shanghai, Shanxi, Shenzhen hotels and restaurants, where he gets his qualification in culinary as China Higher Certificate of Chef.

Chef Guan gets his inspiration on creating his signature dishes from his survey with the local supplies available in the market such as fresh seafood in Sandakan as well as the local veggies grow. Chef Guan usually change his menu once a year and depend on the request from customers on their preferred dishes. In addition, Chef Guan planned to come up with more new Cantonese style dishes in the menu in future to add-on more varieties for customers to choose from. At the moment, there are a lot of positive feedback from the customers where they like the dishes introduced by Chef Guan especially the Cantonese style dishes.

Kota Kinabalu,Sabah - SINDEX, The Sabah Invention and Design Exhibition, is excited to showcase the 20 finalist entries for this year event. SINDEX is a competition for young inventors with prize money up for grabs of RM200 for the third place, RM300 for second place and RM500 for first place.

SINDEX is a bi-annual event run by nine Rotary Clubs from Sabah and Labuan.

SINDEX was born out of a project initially spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Likas Bay in 1998 - The Young Inventor Competition. The founders of that event were Rotary District Governor Philip Chong and Past President of the Rotary Club of Likas Bay Tsen Kui Loi. DG Chong is extremely proud of the calibre of past entrants and is excited to see what new inventions will come from this year's event. Many of the past young finalist and winners of the SINDDEX competition have achieved excellent international result in their chosen fields.

Closing date for entries was 27 May 2016. Twenty finalists have been selected from these submission. Today, on 18 June, after reviews by two panels of judges, the winner is to be announced at the SINDEX Exhibition and Award night. SINDEX 2016 is proud to have these events hosted by their partner Institut Sinaran in Kota Kinabalu.

To enter, students had to supply an A4 page write-up and a 3-minute video of their presentation/ prototype. A tutorial to guide contestants in how to make their video was available at http://www.facebook.com/sindexsabah.

The Chief Judge of the competition is noted Sabahan inventor, Professor Dr Tam Hwa Yaw. Professor Tam is Professor of Photnics at the Department of electrical Engineering and Director of the Photonic Research Centre at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also the Thrid Prize Winner of the Prestigious Berhold Leibinger Innovations 2014 for his Laser Sensing Network for Railway Monitoring.

The organising Chairperson of the event, Kok Ann of the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu, says "Civilisation evolved using inventions that directly change the way we live. For thousands of years, innovative individuals played a main part in such change. A teenager invented something as ubiquitous as the television. SINDEX is here to play a role in that evolution - to give young inventors a platform to show their incredible ideas'.
