KINABALU, SABAH – Paying tribute to the number one cancer afflicting women
today, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu paid a visit to the Oncology and Chemotherapy
ward at the Women and Children Hospital in Likas to raise awareness for breast
cancer.
On 21 October, a group of more than 20 hotel employees
led by the hotel’s Director of Human Resources, Mary Susan Johnson started the
visit with a brief introduction by the person in-charge, Dr. Vansanthi Selvaraju.
While educating the hotel staff of the symptoms and treatments for breast
cancer, she informed that there is no specific ward provided for breast cancer
patients due to limited spaces in the hospital.
About 24 patients diagnosed with cancer consists of
women and men from different ages were feted by hotel employees in a meet and
greet with the patients, before treated to a sumptuous healthy lunch feast
while entertained with inspirational songs sung by the hotel’s choir group. The
hotel employees also spend quality time with patients before the event ended at
1.30pm with a group photo session with members of the hospital.
