Ramadan in Kota Kinabalu carries a certain rhythm. The city slows down, lantern light softens the evening, and tables begin to fill with anticipation. This year, Tangerine at The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu invites guests to experience Sungkai in a setting that feels intimate yet celebratory, calm yet vibrant.

From 20 February to 18 March 2026, 6.00 PM to 10.00 PM, the hotel presents a thoughtfully curated buffet dinner featuring more than 50 types of delicious dishes, blending authentic Malaysian favourites, cherished Ramadan specialties, and international highlights.

A Spread That Speaks of Home

The buffet line reads like a love letter to local flavours.

Guests can savour creamy masak lemak gulai ayam, move on to tender grilled lamb fresh from the carving station, and explore smoky seafood BBQ selections. There are classic favourites such as satay and kebab, alongside refreshing fresh ulam and herbs that bring balance to the palate.

Adding a proud Sabah touch, The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu also features localised side dishes such as bambangan, celebrating regional identity on a Ramadan table.

The dessert section offers a good selection of sweet finishes, presented with simplicity and elegance. Nothing overly complicated, just well executed flavours that complete the evening beautifully.

FAVSTYLE Experience at the Table

FAVSTYLE Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Mr Alfred Allen Ginsos, together with media associates, joined one table to enjoy the blessings of iftar alongside The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu management team.

The atmosphere was gracefully balanced. Conversations flowed effortlessly, laughter rose gently between courses, and the evening felt meaningful beyond the food itself. Our team appreciated the thoughtful presentation, the warmth of hospitality, and the sincerity behind the experience.

Before concluding the night, everyone gathered for a big group photo, capturing a moment of unity and remembrance. A simple gesture, yet a powerful symbol of Ramadan togetherness.
