Children and teenagers, aged 10-16, from Care Haven Children Home were invited to the ceremony to experience a taste of the exciting holiday season. Care Haven is an orphanage for the homeless kids and a shelter or home for the needy children located in Likas. The hotel bought Christmas gifts to each of the children and hope that the children will be able to cherish the gifts. The gift-giving is a reminder of the less fortunate during the festive month and inspire the ones who are involved in the programme to exercise the spirit of giving.
The hotel also collaborated with Ascot Academy, where a group of students performed popular Christmas carols to spread the joy of the festive month, to which one of the songs is in Kadazan. As expected, the performance drew out a huge crowd and the hotel was pleased with the turn-out as they have successfully spread the Christmas cheer to those who are present.
After the Christmas Carol performance, the children of Care Haven were invited to enjoy the Christmas buffet spread prepared by the hotel. The smiling faces and happy laughter of the children gave proof that the event was a success.
