19TH YEARS IN SUPPORT TO PALLIATIVE CARE ASSOCIATION OF KOTA KINABALU

Kota Kinabalu: The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu Charity Dinner and Concert was established in 1999 and since its inception Ms Meng Tan of WineCellar has been in support to the association’s annual fund raising event.

‘It is good to support an event that is for a good cause, I applaud PCAKK for putting together a good show to help them to fund their Home Care Programme.’ Said Ms. Meng Tan. She further enthused ‘I felt that we should support and contribute to the association for they give seamless care for the terminally ill as well as offering the necessary equipment needed for patients to be cared for in the comfort of their own home at no charge.’

The annual charity dinner is organised by the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) to raise fund for the association to help provide home visits, medical aids and equipment for patients to use at home. PCAKK has since looked after more than 3500 patients from the day they were registered with the association up till the very last day of their lives. The Home Care service is now extended to Tuaran and its surrouding areas and to Kinarut. PCAKK currently has more than 160 patients in the home care programme. The prestigious Magellan Sutera Resort has been the venue for the Association’s charity dinner & concert. The strong support and collaboration from the management of Sutera Harbour Resort has made the event a huge success and created a benchmark for international shows to help those in need.

Datuk Margaret Lim, the Organising Chairperson of the recent PCAKK Charity Dinner and Concert expressed her appreciation for WineCellar’s generosity to continue to support the charity event for the past 19 years. Datuk Margaret said ‘We are very fortunate that the kind sponsors from 1999 has continued to support us and Ms. Meng Tan is one of those dedicated sponsors.’
