Lion Dance Performance At Hyatt Regency Kinabalu


KOTA KINABALU, SABAH (February 13, 2013) - Hyatt Regency Kinabalu treated their hotel guest and members of the public to a five-star Chinese New Year lion dance performance on the second day of Chinese New Year to usher in the Year of the Snake.

The event enthralled those who were present in the hotel, particularly its foreign guest who had never seen the traditional cultural art form. The award-winning troupe from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Yick Nam from Inanam showcased their supreme acrobatic skills, with a quest by the lion to pluck the auspicious green (vegetable) tied to a red envelope, hanged high from the ground. The lion dance is an important tradition for the Chinese community which believed to bring good luck, fortune and happiness.

Present at the show were Hyatt Regency Kinabalu's Board of Directors, comprising chairman Datuk Gordon Leong, Managing Director Maisuri bin Besri, Director Chua Soon Ping, and hotel's general manager Arifin Darmawan, Director of Sales and Marketing Reuben Lim and Director of Finance Wilis Prastowo among others. 

After a 45 minute crowd-pleasing performance, 8 lions, to represent prosperity, visited all public areas and back areas of the hotel property to "bless' the offices and bring good luck.
